Surrey County Cricket Club have announced the resignation of Paul Brind, who has been Ground Manager at the Oval since 1994. Paul has been unwell for a number of weeks, and has decided that it is in the best interest of his health to make a change in his career at this time. He officially leaves at the end of November.

Surrey County Cricket Club have announced the resignation of Paul Brind, who has been Ground Manager at the Oval since 1994. Paul has been unwell for a number of weeks, and has decided that it is in the best interest of his health to make a change in his career at this time. He officially leaves at the end of November. Paul Brind has made a great contribution to the success of the Club and ground in recent years. He has won Groundsman of the Year twice, helping Surrey to 8 trophies in the last 8 years - as well as producing numerous international pitches which has won accolades from all around the world. Paul Brind said "I will be very sorry to be leaving the Oval as I have many happy memories of my time there and of all the wonderful people I worked with. However, I feel that now is the right time to take the opportunity of changing my career path and moving on to other things." Bill Gordon has been appointed to succeed Paul as the new Ground Manager with immediate effect.

He had been in charge since succeeding his father Harry, now an England and Wales Cricket Board pitches consultant, as Ground Manager in 1994. "I feel that now is the right time to take the opportunity of changing my career path and moving on to other things," said Brind, who was twice voted Groundsman of the Year. He has been replaced by Bill Gordon with immediate effect.
