GEORGE and LOUISA (UXBRIDGE) had EMILY BRIND,BORN 187?.SHE MARRIED JOSEPHUS GOVAARS 111.THEY HAD (GEORGE SIDNEY GOVAARS.) THE SALVATION ARMY CALLED HIM THE (THE HALLELUJAH DUTCHMAN).IN ( 1937 ),uxbridge,recieved a visit from Colonel Govaars of Holland, as CAPT.Govarrs was at Uxbridge forty years previousely. IT is also interesting to note that at these celebrations the chair was taken by Alderman J.R, SMITH,JP; lord MAYOR of PORTSMOUTH and SELSEA, THE FIIRST SALVATIONIST to become LORD MAYOR OF ANY CITY. the visit was in the local papers. the HEADING WAS "UXBBRIDGE,INVVADED BY HOLLAND and INDIA" ,THHERE WAS INDIAN SALVATION ARMY OFFICER "MAJOR JAI BHAI" ,also. This is the last will and testament of me Sydney Brind of Chislehurst 48 The Greenway, Uxbridge, in the county of Middlesex made this 7th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and thirty five.

I hereby revoke all wills made by me at any time heretofore. I appoint Richard Goffin 77 Manor Ways, Uxbridge, to be my Executor and direct that all my Debts and Funeral Expenses shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

I give and bequeath unto my wife Jessie Mabel Brind, the house, known as Chislehurst, 48 The Greenway, Uxbridge, and the contents of same and all my personal belongings insurances & bank balance. Should she predecease me the house known as Chislehurst 48 The Greenway Uxbridge I leave jointly to Marjorie Goddard and Beryl Goddard of 21 Park Road, Chilsehurst Kent, the contents of the front bedroom to my sister Kath Peevor and the remainder of the furniture and effects to Marjorie and Beryl Goddard afore mentioned with any insurances, bank balances etc. My gold watch and silver cigarette case to my nephew Horace Brind.

Looking at the GRO Page Numbers and comparing them with my Cardinal Points work I think the bride was probably Louisa Carter as she is the only other person with 612 as a page number.

I've a suspicion that the marriage may have taken place in a non-conformist church rather than a Register office due to the other adjacent GRO page numbers for the following reasons:-

The last one in an Anglican church (Upton cum Chalvey St Lawrence) is page 609 and then there are 4 people with page 611 and then George Brind and Louisa Carter with page 612. The next numbers are 613 (4 entries) and 614 (2 entries).

As I understand that new "groups" always start with an odd page number and as there are only 2 with 612, I think that means that it is the last marriage in a group. As I have been told that the last entries usually relate to Register Office marriages it would suggest that entries with pages 611 and 612 might have been a non-conformist marriage. By non-conformist I would also include Quaker and Jewish churches.

I'm not sure if this helps or confuses things further but it may help if you have other information relating to George Brind.
