Special treatment for Zionists
The BBC's From Our Own Correspondent is a rare gem in Aunty's schedule of mostly mind numbing tedium or pure rubbish. However, the latest issue seems to have caught the virus that is destroying the corporation. I listened, not something I do every week, because it was supposed to include something about Gaza. And it was there including the remarkable information that the BBC has had a team in Gaza risking their lives for the last 18 months. I am deeply grateful for this and immensely pleased that they are not amongst the 232 journalists killed by the Israeli war machine. That said: why don't they actually do some reporting, or more likely why doesn't the BBC broadcast what they send? I, like most people, get my knowledge about what's going on in the pogrom from social media, not the BBC. But be that as it may, after the anodyne (by Gaza standards) report it was felt necessary to broadcast a note from the Israelis saying basically despite the killings, the illegal arrests, the destructions of hospitals, the shootings of children and the rest, the Israelis are basically misunderstood and deserving of your love. Would the BBC have published a note from Goebbels saying that the Nazis may have killed some Jews, homosexuals and gypsies, but they were basically nice people?
