Sam Jones pitches a search engine on Dragons Den.
.
Abdulazeez Kabir: This is one of the best pitches that I've ever heard" watch Gener8 Ads founder Sam Jones crushing it on Dragons' Den last night. My take, as an entrepreneur you learn fast and update.
Jones says there is one competitor in America, I believe. His pitch seems to ask more questions than it answers. Since he is clearly piggy backing on an existing search engine, it's not quite clear what advantage the folk who reject cookies, rather than getting paid for giving their data away, get. Those who opt to get paid for sharing their data, are easier to understand. This is the Ecosia business model (it uses the Microsoft search engine, Bing, I think). Except Ecosia, very sensibly in my view, offers you the feeling that you are doing something for the environment instead of small change.

It would be interesting if Gener8 was using Bing.

Personally I think the main lesson is that if I was a different person I could go on the Dragon's Den and sell my search engine. But if I was a different person I probably wouldn't have thought of the idea.
