Video portrait of an artist

Clarence Crawford, a Walthamstow based artist, spends hour after hour, day after day, week after week patiently sculpting oil paintings just like high quality naturalistic, Victorian works of art.

He's not fashionable, even though his order book has included the names of some of the most famous people in the world.

All his life he's been told that his time would come: there would be recognition for his amazing skill and dedication. It hasn't happened yet and he's in his 70s! Jonathan Brind, a Leyton based video maker, tells Clarence's story at the same time as lifting the lid on some the insanities of the art world.

The first ever showing of this remarkable video is at Hornbeam Centre, Hoe Street, Walthamstow, on Friday January 18 at 7:30 pm.
